What a great way to spend Turkey Day

Our morning began at 5:00 am. We woke up early enough so we would be on time to meet the rest of our party in the lobby, meanwhile ... they slept. Yep! They all slept in. So Jason and I, being the troopers we are, braved the rain and arrived at 6:00 am to get a good spot for the parade. It's a good thing we woke up so early, we were probably the first ones on the street, but hey, we got a good spot. And we only had three more hours until the parade began.

The rain continued and it was sketchy whether or not they would be flying the balloons. Finally it began, and the balloons were afloat. Don't worry, for those of you who forgot to watch, you didn't miss us. We were towards the end of Times Square, unfortunatley the camares didn't reach us.

Overall we had fun, despite the rain. It's not something we will try again, but at least we can say we've been there, done that. The balloons were amazing, the pictures don't do them justice. It was amazing to be on the front row looking up at them. The bigger balloons had about 20 men holding them down, and some were really struggling to hold them. It would have been neat to have them higher in the air, do to the weather they couldn't fly them as high. Besides the balloons my favorite, was the Annheiser Busch Clydsdale's that pulled a giant sleigh with a Christmas tree in it.

We had a few celebrity sightings, but I wasn't doing so well with the camera and missed them. We saw Cheyene, Emmit Smith, Chris Brown, Gloria Estefan, the cast of High School Musical and the big man himself ... SANTA (Boy were we excited to see him). If your not familiar with the Thanksgiving Parade it is important to know that Santa comes at the very end of the parade.

Our Thanksgiving dinner was nice, although it was nothing like grandma's cooking. Thanks to Theurer's Custom Meats we had a nice smoked turkey that turned out to be a huge hit. Things are going well, Jason has hit the books and that's where he will stay till Christmas. We did however, get a chance to see the Christmas Rocketts at Radio City Music Hall and it was amazing. The live Nativity was like nothing we've ever seen before (it included live camels), it was very touching ... a great end to a wonderful performance. So we expect all of you to come visit us next year so you can experience it for yourselves. We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and we can't wait to see you for Christmas.

We're not in Utah anymore

Greenwich Village hosts the largest Halloween parade in the world and we got a taste of it. They figure there is a turn out of roughly two million people, and who ever is in costume is aloud to be in it. (lets just say this isn't your ordinary Utah parade) This being said you will see every kind of costume you can think of, from sweet and pretty to drag and dirty. My goal was to get a great picture of a drag queen to send to all of you. I had never seen a drag queen in person, but believe me there were plenty. There was a great one dressed up as Strawberry Shortcake but I wasn't quick enough with the camera.

We didn't want to miss out on all the fun so we hosted our own little murder mystery dinner. Jason was suppose to be an old Englishman but it didn't really work. The wig was suppose to be Donald Trump but it was a little much.

Just an ordinary day

It seems crazy that we can go to Central Park or a Yankees game any day of the week. Here are some pictures of what we've been doing with our free time.

Home Sweet Home

When we first found out we were getting a studio we were a little disappointed, we were hoping for a one bedroom. When we came to check out the school in the spring we got to see a studio apartment of some friends and it was rather spacious. However, when we arrived we were given an even smaller apartment that wasn't so spacious. Oh well what can you do?

The great thing about our apartment is that I can cook, carry on a conversation with Jason in his office (the floor), and listen to the TV all at the same time. The down fall; I can't make any noise because Jason's always studying, so when I want to talk on the phone I have to go in the bathroom and when I want to watch TV I have to wear headphones.

One problem is the heater, we don't ever turn it on, but yet there always seems to be heat coming out of it. So we have had to resort to opening the window. (Jason's not complaining) But we live on the second floor right above the front door, so all the smokers seem to congregate right below our window. Let's just say if I get lung cancer from second hand smoke the only good thing is I know a great lawyer who can sue the school. The sadist part is with what we pay in rent we could afford a beautiful home in Utah, but you know what they say, location is everything. After living here we have come to realize just how neat of an area we are in and how many people would kill to live in the village. We are loving it, and wouldn't change a thing.
